History

  • 1948

    In 1948, the uhlsport history began in the small town Balingen in the Southwest of Germany, when the uhlsport founder Karl Uhl cobbled his first leather studs. Founding of uhlsport GmbH (http://www.uhlsportcompany.com/). Our original business? Manufacture of leather studs.

  • 1949

    The World Soccer Association (http://www.FIFA.com/)  lifts the prohibition of German soccer teams. This decision pushes also the uhlsport GmbH in 1949.

  • 1950

    Acceptance of the German Soccer Association (http://www.dfb.de/) in FIFA (http://www.FIFA.com).

  • 1953

    uhlsport begins additional production of football soles for sports shoe manufacturers and becomes one of the leading suppliers of sports shoe components.

  • 1968

    From 1968, more and more goalkeepers were wearing special goalkeeper`s gloves.

  • 1970

    From 1970, the success of goalkeeper`s gloves is clear. Today a goalkeeper without gloves is unimaginable. Hereupon uhlsport increases its product range. In addition to sports shoe components, shinguards, sport bandages, footballs and goalkeeper`s gloves play a growing role at uhlsport. Ski security straps are also available.

  • 1972

    In 1972, the UEFA Cup was played for the first time.

  • 1980

    uhlsport now concentrates on football and achieves the position of market leader, specializing in goalkeeper`s equipment, thereunder goalkeeper`s outfits and gloves.

  • 1982

    Dino“Nazionale“Zoff becomes World Champion with Italy.

  • 1984

    Uli Stein with HSV, become European Cup winner against Juventus Turin in Athens.

  • 1987

    In 1987, we award first time the uhlsport trophy ”Best goalkeeper in the World”. It goes to Jean-Marie Pfaff, FC Bayern München.

    For the successful introduction of the TRI-CONCEPT technology in footballs uhlsport holds a patent.

  • 1989

    We achieve an international breakthrough by contracting Inter Milan, at that time with Lothar Matthäus, Andreas Brehme and Jürgen Klinsmann.

    Walter Zenga is named best goalkeeper in the world.

    Inter Milan, completely equipped with uhlsport products, becomes Italian champion.

    In 1989 APG gloves and ACT football inner tubes (bladders) were patented and successfully launched on the market.

  • 1990

    Bodo Illgner becomes World Champion with Germany.

  • 1991

    From 1991-1994 1.FC Kaiserslautern (German Champion 1991) played completely equipped with uhlsport products.

  • 1993

    1993-1997: SC Freiburg played in complete uhlsport outfits, from 1995 on also wearing uhlsport soccer boots.

  • 1994

    In 1993/1994 uhlsport begins the additional manufatcure of football shoes.

  • 1995

    1995-1998: Hamburg SV plays completely in uhlsport outfits, likewise AC Florence ( at that time with Stefan Effenberg).

    With the introduction of our football boots we achieve the status of a complete soccer equipment supplier.

  • 1998

    MSV Duisburg, Blackburn Rovers and Vitesse Arnheim play completely in uhlsport products.

    The sales of the uhlsport GmbH from the family Uhl to the family Daiss causes a repositioning of the brand. As "football specialist" we make an effort meeting the requirements of football.

  • 2003

    uhlsport’s Pavel Nedved inspired Juventus to the Italian Championship.

    uhlsport’s Francesco Toldo helped Inter to 2nd place and Champions League qualification.

    Start of the uhlsport Challenge, a professional training tour for children aged 9 or over with head trainers Karl-Heinz Riedle and Maarten Arts.

  • 2004

    In 2004 we win Robert Enke (+) over us.

  • 2005

    In 2005 uhlsport celebrates a successful year. MSV Duisburg, Pavel Nedved, Carlo Cudicini, Gregory Coupet, AJ Auxerre, CSKA Sofia and the national team of Jamaica make a contribution amongst others.

  • 2006

    Since 2006 SALA describes our product line for Futsall. uhlsport has dedicated its sub-brand SALA to this particular version of indoor football.

    Since 2006 Espanyol Barcelona plays completely equipped with uhlsport products.

  • 2008

    Introduction of the AKKURAT glove, a revolutionary close-fitting glove with half-negative seams.

    uhlsport received a patent for the very successful KIKKSOKKE technology in football boots.

  • 2010

    For the first time all uhlsport partners participating the Football Event in South Africa play with an identical model of goalkeeper gloves to draw attention to our social campaign "SOS Children´s Villages South Africa".

    Pepe Reina became a winner in South Arfrica with the Spanish national team.

    Relaunch of the uhlsport brand with the new concepts "uhlsport FUSSBALL" and "uhlsport of Germany".

    10 years of FANGMASCHINE - we're celebrating the anniversary of our classic goalkeeper's glove with a "typically German" Black Forest gateau.

    A successful year for Hans-Jörg Butt: He won the Bundesliga title and the German Cup with Bayern Munich.

  • 2011

    1. FC Kaiserslautern, 1. FC Union Berlin and TSV 1860 München  play completely in uhlsport products.

  • 2012

    For the second time all goalkeepers wearing uhlsport apparel in the European Championships are wearing the same model of goalkeeper gloves to increase awareness of the activities of the Robert-Enke-Foundation.

    Pepe Reina became European champion with the Spanish national team.

  • 2013

    We love grass.

  • 2014

    Ron-Robert Zieler wins the World Cup in Brazil with the German national team

    Most of the no.1 goalkeepers at the UEFA European Chamiponship wear the uhlsport goalkeeping gloves. Hugo Lloris and the équipe tricolore were only beaten by Portugal  with Anthony Lopes. Additionally the teams from Iceland with Hannes Thór Halldórsson and Northern Ireland with Michael McGovern performed very well.
